This was a personal issue, that I’ve decided not to share the details about. Generally, it was going without something for a month, to break a habit. I did it over July, so it is now complete. It’s still a personal issue, so I won’t be sharing it on here.
Goal Number 84: Secret Item #1 Tuesday, Jul 31 2007

Goal Number 24: Rejoin a basketball league Monday, Jul 30 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Basketball 2:19 pm
Got an invite from my mate CJ to see if I wanted to play some basketball tonight. It’s for a team I used to play with, before Monday night rehearsals took up my life. Aptly (or is it Ironically?) named Team Victory, we’re a D Division team in the Salvation Army League that plays on Monday nights.
Tonight, we lived up to our name. A close match all the way through, when the final buzzer sounded the scores were 28-29, Team Victory ahead, with the opposition having 2 Free Throws. He missed the first, then got the second. A Draw. Still pretty good. Then when the ref’s checked the score card, they realised that the scoreboard was wrong, and the scorer had missed putting a goal up – in our favour! We won 31-29.
I had a great time (though about half an hour after the game I’m still slightly catching my breath), and am looking forward to getting back into the action. Fun stuff that happened tonight: About 5 minutes in, I decided to chase down a player going for the basket. I went too hard for my legs (which hadn’t really done much extreme physical activity since I quit basketball a year and a half ago), and they decided to collapse under me. I scored an Ally-oop, getting an offensive rebound and shooting it in mid air, scoring my only points for the match. On the way home, I wasn’t exactly with it, and ended up running a red light… thankfully there was no-one around.
Goal Number 95: Upgrade my Computer Friday, Jul 27 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Upgrade Computer 2:42 pm
A few days ago I ordered an ATi Video Card, a X800GTO (AGP port because that’s all my motherboard has). Received it today and installed it. Had fun when I tried to boot up Ubuntu, and the graphics system x.org threw a hissy fit because something had changed, and threw me into command line mode. Not even able to load a website to figure out how to fix it, I had to run off to uni. Eventually got it working, and I think it’s working fully now. At least, I hope so.
So Technically, I have upgraded my computer. Consider goal Achieved.
Goal Number 99: Buy a Laptop and Run Linux on it Tuesday, Jul 17 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Run Linux 9:35 am
Well, I’m counting this one as complete, though technically all parts aren’t complete. The original goal was to buy a Laptop, and run linux on it, while keeping my main PC for Windows for programs such as Sibelius which aren’t available on Linux.
However, I got fed up with Windows when after updating and forcing a restart, it actually wouldn’t boot up at all. Had to do a complete re-install. Then, upon getting into Windows, it failed to recognise my network card. However, when running a Ubuntu Live CD, it worked perfectly.
So I compacted my files and reformated a hard drive, and now i’m running a dual boot with Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and XP Pro… though I haven’t booted into XP, mainly because the network card still doesn’t work. looking for a work around for that.
So while I don’t have a laptop, I am running Linux as my main OS. When I eventually get the money to get a Laptop, that will also run Linux, as I am really enjoying using Linux. So for me, this goal is Complete
Goal Number 90: Complete my Chrysalis Talk, before the Training Weekend Monday, Jul 9 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Chrysalis Talk 8:13 am
Status: Complete!
I finished off my Chrysalis talk today, and also went through and made the Powerpoint presentation. For all intensive purposes, I’m counting this goal as complete. The only reason why it might not be complete is because a) I’m still waiting on a couple of pics from a mate, and b) It will undergo editing and revision closer to the date.
But the majority of the text is done, it fits within the given time, and the majority of the powerpoint presentation is done. I just need to check that it works in Powerpoint, because I use OpenOffice.org and will just need to confirm that it still works the same on Powerpoint.
Goal Number 26: Go ten pin bowling Friday, Jul 6 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Ten Pin Bowling 1:49 pm
My youth group went 10 Pin Bowling tonight as their end of term activity. We had great fun, a really good time. Slideshow of some of the pics here -or see the whole album
Goal Number 90: Complete my Chrysalis Talk, before the Training Weekend Friday, Jul 6 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Chrysalis Talk 12:39 am
I started my Chrysalis talk last night. Took me a while to find a way to start it off, but I think it’s going to work out well. I would’ve done more on it than I did, but it touched a place which is still rather tender for me. I think it’s the right place to go for the talk, but I just needed some relief from it last night. Will do some more work on it today.
Goal Number 52: Keep my bedroom clean for a year Wednesday, Jul 4 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and Clean Bedroom 7:14 am
Woah, I swear I thought I had this goal as keeping it clean for a month… oh well, a year it is.
I cleaned my room today, nice and proper. Threw out 3 bags of rubbish, so it looks a lot neater and less cluttered.
So that makes today day one. I complete the goal on the 4th of July, 2008
Goal Number 91: Watch a full AFL game each round. Sunday, Jul 1 2007
101 Things in 1001 Days and AFL 2:38 pm
So that I can add in a counter, I’ll only count Regular Season games, so no pre-season or finals games (though I’ll probably end up watching them anyway).
Round 13, 2007 – Watched Adelaide vs. West Coast at AAMI Stadium (1/07/2007) Final Score Adelaide 74, West Coast 95
Round 14, 2007 – Watched Carlton vs. Melbourne at MCG (8/07/2007) Final Score Carlton 101, Melbourne 124
